Fraternity
BrotherhoodBrotherhood is the main concept of a fraternity. It is the common strand that intertwines every ΣΑΕ member, drawing us together by shared goals and experiences. Through this special kind of friendship, every ΣΑΕ makes a commitment to something outside himself, a commitment to people, to friends. Some may think that it is just a fun thing to do for four years, while it is, they do not appreciate the fact that when one joins, they join for life. Our over 175 Alumni chapters in the country should be testament to that fact. When in a fraternity, the ties of friendship are much stronger than those formed just by living in a residence hall.

Leadership

It is well known that fraternity members enjoy a much higher involvement in campus and community life than non-fraternity members do. The brothers of SAE currently hold the following positions: Staff Manager and Small Event Manager of Programming Board, President of Mortar Board, Manager of Bengal Bus, 3 ASOC Senators, Captain of the Men’s Soccer Team, 3 Members of the Alcohol Policy Revision Committee, 1 Member of the LeadershipPresidential Search Committee and many other positions throughout campus. Not only do you grow as a leader on campus but also in the many leadership opportunities in the fraternity itself. Holding an office in the local chapter is a great experience involving working with a group, and opportunities for innovative thinking and problem solving. There is a reason that Greeks enjoy holding 85% of the upper-level executive positions in the "Fortune 500 Companies", and that is because they are better qualified in working with people and delegating authority. The Sigma Alpha Epsilon pledge program is designed to help nurture and develop the leadership potential in all of our potential members. Annually, SAE hosts a national leadership school in Chicago, which is open to members from all of our 220+ chapters around the country.

Social
Whether we're dealing with business, doing philanthropy work, partying, or just kicking back, it's always a fun time. There are always brothers to hang out when you might feel like there's nothing to do. Mixers, parties, and other activities enhance the college experience and make this school feel more like a community. You can always find a brother walking through the halls, and there is always something to do. This last semester our social calendar was filled with events such as:

-Fraternity Night at the Dodgers Game
-Big Ben’s Birthday Bash
-Burger Continental Dinner with a Sorority
-Thanksgiving Dinner at the house with the Alpha Sorority
-The SAE Haunted House Charity Scare (raised over $500 for a local charity)

And look forward to next semester:

- The SAE Formal
- Camping retreat on the beach
- True Gentleman Day of Service
- Paddy Murphy’s Memorial

In between all of these social and service events we have the weekly Wednesday Night Dinners at the house. All the brothers get together eat some good food and just kick back for a little while. The social and service events sponsored by the house are always a good time. , and participate socially.

We at SAE encourage you to explore the opportunities offered by the Greek system at Occidental. If you are interested in enjoying your college experience to the fullest, check out SAE!

Look for us on campus and we’ll be looking forward to meeting you!
